Last Updated: February 26, 2026
ProTeach Home Learning is committed to ensuring that our platform is accessible to all learners, parents, and educators, including individuals with disabilities. Education is for everyone, and our goal is to provide an inclusive digital experience.
Table of Contents
1. Our Commitment
ProTeach Home Learning believes that every child deserves access to quality education regardless of ability. We are committed to making our platform usable by the widest possible audience, including individuals who use assistive technologies such as screen readers, keyboard navigation, switch devices, and magnification software.
We continuously work to improve the accessibility of our platform and welcome feedback from our users to help us identify and address barriers.
2. Conformance Standards
ProTeach Home Learning strives to conform to the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1, Level AA as published by the World Wide Web Consortium (W3C). These guidelines establish a wide range of recommendations for making web content more accessible.
While we aim for full WCAG 2.1 AA conformance, we recognize that accessibility is an ongoing effort. We regularly audit our platform and implement improvements to move closer to full compliance.
Our conformance efforts include:
- Regular automated and manual accessibility testing
- Semantic HTML structure throughout the application
- ARIA labels and roles where appropriate
- Color contrast ratios meeting or exceeding WCAG AA standards
- Responsive design supporting various screen sizes and zoom levels
3. Accessibility Features
ProTeach Home Learning includes the following accessibility features:
Visual Accessibility
- Two theme options (Navy and OLED Dark) to accommodate different visual preferences and sensitivities
- Calm Mode (Focus Mode) that removes animations, bouncing icons, and flashy effects for users who are sensitive to motion
- Text content is resizable without loss of functionality
- Color is never used as the sole means of conveying information
Navigation & Interaction
- Keyboard navigation support throughout the portal
- Clear focus indicators on interactive elements
- Consistent navigation patterns across all portal sections
- Large touch targets for mobile and tablet users
Content & Media
- Alt text on images and meaningful icons
- Structured headings and landmarks for screen reader navigation
- Form labels and error messages associated with their respective inputs
- Printable lesson materials available as PDF for offline use
4. Known Limitations
Despite our best efforts, some areas of our platform may not yet be fully accessible. Known limitations include:
- Interactive Games: Some of our 20+ educational games rely on visual and timed interactions that may present challenges for users with certain disabilities. We are working to add alternative modes and improved keyboard support for these games.
- PDF Lesson Materials: Some uploaded lesson materials (PDFs, images) created by Teacher Companions may not be fully tagged for screen reader accessibility. We are developing guidelines for Teacher Companions to improve document accessibility.
- Drawing Features: The signature drawing canvas in the letter writing feature requires mouse or touch interaction and does not currently support keyboard-only input. A typed signature alternative is available.
We are actively working to address these limitations and welcome your feedback to help us prioritize improvements.
5. Third-Party Content
Our platform integrates with certain third-party services that are outside of our direct control. While we select partners who share our commitment to accessibility, we cannot guarantee the accessibility of all third-party content:
- Stripe: Payment processing is handled by Stripe, which maintains its own accessibility standards.
- Firebase Authentication: Sign-in flows for Google, Apple, and Microsoft OAuth are provided by their respective platforms and may have their own accessibility characteristics.
- Teacher-Uploaded Content: Lesson materials uploaded by Teacher Companions may vary in their level of accessibility. We provide guidelines and training to improve content accessibility.
